"RED" has a cast of old pros that work very well together and that is where most of the fun comes from. They are Bruce Willis (cool personified), Hellen Mirren (very sexy), Morgan Freeman (well, God and Mandela enough said)and John Malkovich who has cornered the comic relief role lately. The movie itself is not as good as the cast but it is light though violent fun. It could have been way more violent and bloody for it is based on a graphic novel. Instead it is like a breezy and goofy comic book. RED stands for retired and extremely dangerous and most of the cast play ex C.I.A. agents who are targeted for assassination. Bruce Willis is the main focus of the plot at first as he talks frequently to a woman over the phone. She is played by Mary Louise Parker who I enjoy every time I see her on screen. Willis finally meets her and gets her involved with the spy stuff. Bruce Willis has that calm and cool demeanor that not many actors have and I loved the chemistry between him and Parker. They are the best thing about this movie excpet that a main joy of this movie is also watching the rest of the cast work off of each other. This is a wonderful cast and they have a lot of fun and so do we. The movie's plot is kind of half ass and not really that intriguing. The shoot outs and chases are decent but over stay their welcome a smidge. This is worth waiting for to watch at home because it is light and funny in spots and charming. It is just not good enough to go out and pay money to see it in a theatre. It is also nice to see Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine in small but funny roles.
